Samantha Swanson has a Master of Science in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and is licensed in Illinois (LCPC) and Iowa (LMHC). She has six years of experience working in nonprofit community mental health settings. She works primarily with adolescents, adults and families that struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, addiction, relationship concerns, and other life experiences. She believes each person has their own story that has shaped what they are currently experiencing. She strives to create a safe and nurturing space where clients can process their story, gain insight into how their experience has impacted them, and create a new reality that is more fulfilling to them. Samantha uses a variety of approaches including Strength-Based and Reality Therapy. She has been trained to utilize Theraplay, and believes attachment and connection are imperative. She specializes in working with trauma, and has been trained in Trauma-Informed Care, Adverse Childhood Experiences, and is a trained Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) clinician. Outside of work, Samantha spends her time with family and friends. She is a foster parent, and enjoys helping others.
